The media was abuzz with the divorce announcement that signaled the end of a 25-year marriage between Maria Shriver and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. This celebrity divorce case immediately overshadowed the other recent celebrity divorce news: George Lopez and his wife of 17 years recently separated, as well as Patricia Arquette and Thomas Jane.
Claiming “irreconcilable differences,” Shriver filed divorce papers with the LA Supreme Court. It is being reported that Schwarzenegger does not want to pay spousal support to Shriver, nor does he want to pay for the attorney fees.
Online news and celebrity gossip outlets have been rife with their opinions on the proceedings of the divorce.
“The Maria/Arnold divorce is going to be very interesting from an attorney’s point of view,” says John K. Grubb of John K. Grubb & Associates, P.C. “Hollywood attorneys like to create lots of publicity. But Maria and Arnold are very media savvy – they are the publicity experts. Additionally, both Maria and Arnold are very smart, astute business people. Instead of their attorneys telling them what to do, I think Maria and Arnold are going to be telling their attorneys what to do – keep out of the news, keep your mouth shut and here is the business deal we are doing – now you lawyers take care of the paperwork.”
Multiple online sources are stating that it may have not come as a shock to Maria Shriver after all; she may have been aware of the issues at some level. These relationship issues include the revelation that Governor Schwarzenegger fathered a child with their long-time housekeeper, as well as his alleged womanizing and infidelities.
